Sadaqa e Jaariyya

To spend in the path of Allah Ta'ala by way of propagating the Deen of Allah is highly meritorious and rewarding. Reward attained through the performance of certain good deeds affords the continuity of reward even after death.

Indeed fortunate are those who have reaped such tremendous benefits and Insha Allah will bear the fruits in the hereafter.

Some of the common contributions made in this respect are: donations towards the Masjid, printing of Yaseen Shareef, building of Darul Ulooms, etc. Undoubtedly these projects are required and should be encouraged.

However, the printing of 'Yaseen Shareef', or 'Dua e Jamilah' or 'Durood and Salaam' and other similar material is undertaken frequently and on a large scale. The result is that mosques, Madrassahs and homes are flooded with these booklets/leaflets.

Hazrath Abu Hurairah (RA) has reported the messenger of Allah as saying, "Among the actions and good deeds for which a believer will continue to receive reward, after his death, are knowledge which he taught and spread, a good son whom he left behind, or a copy of the Qur'an which he left as a legacy, or a mosque which he erected, or a house which he built for the traveller, or a stream which he caused to flow, or a Sadaqah which he gave from his property when he was alive and well, for which he will continue to receive reward after his death". (Ibn Majah - Mishkat)

The above hadith indicates various ways to attain the reward of Sadaqa e Jaariyya. Sadaqa e Jariyya can be given by printing any suitable Islamic literature, for example, printing a book on 'marriage' or `The Beard'. Alhumdullah many books in English are available in South Africa that only need to be reproduced.

Printing and reproducing expensive Islamic literature and making this available free of charge will be exceptionally and one will (Insha Allah) obtain ever-reccuring reward. However, one should ensure the authenticity of Kitaabs before printing them for very easily much harm could be caused. Reliable Ulama should be consulted in this regard.
